MY POETRY: "Stranger Dreams Than I Ever Imagined"

Poetry is based upon the mix of passion, intellectualism and spirituality. Whether its focused on love lost, the beauty of Nature, or social commentary, the Art of the Poet has had a long and deep tradition throughout history in all the societies of mankind.

When I was 19, I set out to write a story using the rhythms of a song that was (and still is a favorite of mine ~ Earth, Wind & Fire's Fantasy). The story was about hope and redemption which has been one of the themes of my writing for the last 19 years. I didn't know where I was going when I started, but after a few hours, I finally had the story I wanted to tell; a life decision was there for the taking and I decided to take it.

The poems of my first book "Stranger Dreams Than I Ever Imagined" are the first 100 poems I wrote between 1983 and 1995 (with subsequent revisions denoted by their new dates). There is very little about the book that is materially different from the version that is copyrighted in the Library of Congress. I've made a shortened web-centric version that has a cross-section of 20 of these poems for you to read. They are bits and pieces of emotions and events, some based directly on personal experience, others much more loosely. All of them mean something special, so I hope you find enjoyment in reading them. I certainly learned something about myself during the process of writing and editing them!
